Pops and Mum Newton drove down from Minnesota to visit us this weekend. We were so blessed to have beautiful spring weather for us all to enjoy.

Saturday was the Illinois Marathon, so it was a big event for our small city. Joel has been training for months to run his first marathon, but injured his hamstring playing softball a few weeks ago. So he had to defer his registration until next year and just watch the race this year. We have a friend who was running the marathon and he and Joel actually trained together, so we wanted to make sure to see him and cheer him on. Our house is not far from the course, so we walked to the spot that was mile 25. It was really fun to see so many people running and to cheer for them. And when our friend Eric came around the corner, Joel decided to run the last mile with him. It was good for Joel to be able to participate and to encourage his running partner even though he wasn't able to run the actual race. We're excited to be a part of it next year, and now Joel has a new goal to run a half marathon in August.
Here we are watching the runners.
The girls enjoyed playing with a new bubble toy from Pops and Mum.
Reading bedtime stories with Mum.
We had a great visit and were thankful to be able to spend some time with family!
