A Trip to Pennsylvania

We just returned from a trip to Pennsylvania to visit Joel's brother Ben, his wife Lindsey and their kids Sam and Caroline. They've lived in Lancaster County for the past five years and this was our first trip out to see them.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon and met some of the other Newton clan members at a smorgasbord restaurant. It was the first time Grandpa Newton had ever met our girls. They also got to meet Joel's Aunt Jackie and Uncle Terry, as well as two of their cousins, Dustin and David, and Dustin's wife Nicole.
It was great to see everyone even though the time together was so short. We're thankful they were willing to come meet us and treat us to a nice meal.
The next day Linds and I took the kids to downtown Lancaster. Linds told me a little bit about their community while the kids played in the water fountain. They had so much fun getting wet together!

That night we went to a local park and had a picnic dinner. Our plan was to stay and listen to a patriotic concert and then watch a fireworks show after that, but we kind of misjudged the timing of it all and the kids were exhausted before the concert even started. So we decided to go out for Italian ice instead! That was something I had never had before and LOVED! It was so good, and the perfect treat after a hot day.

Here's Norah and Sam playing at the park. It was super crowded because everyone was there to see the concert, but they didn't seem to mind. You can tell how hot and sweaty they were after playing.
