The Wildlife Experience

Joel had the morning off today, so we decided to have a new experience together and visited The Wildlife Experience in Parker. I've been curious about this place and when a friend told me that you can get free passes from the library to go there, I thought it would be worth a try. It's basically a museum about wildlife that is very interactive. I was very impressed, but the girls liked some things better than others.

This picture was taken in the "Globeology" exhibit, which takes you through different biomes of the earth. The girls are into the Lion King right now, so they liked the African Savannah section. Some of the animals made sounds, and if you know my girls you know that they are very sensitive to loud noises. Especially in a room that is kind of dark with large fake animals. It was a little too much for them.

This is the part they really liked. It was called "Amazing Butterflies," and it was an interactive maze that teaches you about caterpillars and how they become butterflies. So you enter the maze as a caterpillar and come out as a butterfly. This is the part where you get in a cocoon and then it spins around and you come out on the other side as a butterfly.

And at the very end you get to fly away and "migrate." So fun!

They had an area for younger kids that had all kinds of fun stuff like puppets, animal costumes, books, puzzles, etc. Norah especially loved the costumes. Here she is as a zebra.

She said this one was her favorite. We think it's a lemur, like the ones on the Madagascar movie. She thought it was just another kind of zebra because the tail was black and white stripes.

Enjoying a snack outside the museum at the end of our time. What a fun place! The girls want to go back sometime, just not to the "dark part with the scary animals."
