This Saturday was the first time in a while that we haven't had something going on. We were looking forward to a day spending time together as a family, so we planned a trip to the History Colorado Center.
We had some free passes that had to be used that day, but it just happened to be a time when there was a special exhibit about U.S. Presidents. This has been one of Anna's favorite topics of interest for a long time, so she was very excited. The exhibit was mostly just a portrait of each president with important facts about them, but the girls' favorite part was a podium where they could pretend to give a speech. There was even clothes they could put on to dress like a president and little notecards with famous quotes they could read.

Another highlight was a simulation of the ski jump at Howelsen Hill in Steamboat Springs. The skis moved and wind even blows in your face to make you feel like you are really jumping through the air. The girls were scared to do it at first, so I tried it and they decided it wasn't so scary if Mommy could do it.
There was another really interesting exhibit that was all about a town on the Eastern Plains of Colorado that was settled in the 1920's. The girls got to pretend to milk a cow, gather eggs, work in a general store, drive a model T car, and lots of other interactive stuff.
Norah really liked this huge buffalo that was out front and wanted us to take a picture with it.
We ended our outing with a visit to Yogurtland. We love days like this where we get to spend time together exploring something new but relaxing too.
