Early on Christmas morning, we started the drive up to Minnesota to celebrate with the Newton clan. We were blessed with relatively mild weather for this time of year. The kids had really wanted to play in the snow, but since there wasn't any, Pops had the idea to pull them around frozen Lake Waconia on a sled.
The kids loved it! I recall seeing a similar image on an old video that the Newtons have of Joel and his brothers on a sled on Taylor Lake.
Adding Caroline to the mix may or may not have exceeded the maximum capacity for the sled at this point.
We spent a little time at the park that day too. It was great to give the kids a chance to burn off some of their energy. Even though it was a sunny day, that northern wind is still pretty cold!
Who is that mysterious masked man on the left? That's Peter, who apparently has learned that the best way to survive a Minnesota winter is not not expose any of your skin to the elements.
One day Mum took us to an arboretum that had lots of fun Christmas decorations for the kids to see. They also had a story time there, and we pretty much had the place to ourselves.
These two had the same hairdo, and my sister-in-law Lindsey and I were amazed at how similar they looked. You can definitely tell they are related!
These two can be best buds one minute, then needing to be put in separate rooms the next. Maybe it's because we don't see each other as often as we'd like and when we do spend time together it's kind of concentrated. But these two know how to push each other's buttons!
So fun to spend time with our cousin Sam.
Our last night we all went out to Pizza Ranch for dinner.
The Newton brothers. Classic pose.
And the group shot.
We were so thankful that everyone was able to get together this Christmas. We've been back for five days now, and the girls are still talking about the fun they had.
