Candy Factory outing

Today we had a new interesting experience. We visited Hammond's Candies, which is a candy factory here in Denver. My friend Megan suggested we take the kids for one of the free tours, so that is what we did today. Here are Anna, Norah, and our friend Cael wearing their Hammond's candy maker hats. Before the tour, we asked the kids what kind of candy they thought was made in this factory. Anna said "strawberry," Norah said "ice cream," and Cael said "apple pie."
It was really interesting to see how the candy is made. All of it is made by hand in this factory. We saw them cutting marshmallows and pouring hot candy onto a huge table to cool. We saw them pulling it into long ropes that would be made into lollipops and candy canes. Anna kept asking me, "But when do we get to taste the candy?" I was wondering the same thing myself! At the end of the tour, all the kids got a lollipop, so they were happy with that.
Anna and Cael watch while the workers package the candy. Those boxes you see are filled with all kinds of candy canes.

Not bad for a free tour!
