Anna's 7th Birthday

We celebrated Anna's 7th birthday on Saturday. We started the morning with breakfast out at Cracker Barrel, then opened gifts at home. Norah's gift to her was Anna's favorite--a Star Wars shirt!
Here she is organizing her American Girl things inside her new trunk. American Girl and Star Wars. Talk about varied interests!
Instead of a party this year, she wanted to celebrate by inviting a friend to go see The Lorax movie. So we enjoyed a relaxing day at home together, which was good because Joel was up all night at a youth group overnighter the night before! But we all enjoyed the movie, and Anna's friend gave her another fun gift: a Darth Vader mask and light saber.

After a few light saber battles, we enjoyed her favorite dinner (something we call Peanut Butter noodles, but it's really a Thai noodle dish). She requested cheesecake as her special birthday treat, which is a new favorite of hers. We had some with my mom last weekend, and after she tasted it she said, "THIS is what I want for my birthday cake!"
She also received so many phone calls from family and friends. It was so fun for me to overhear her telling them all about our plans for the day, her gifts, and everything else she was excited about. We loved celebrating Anna today!

7 seems too old! She makes me laugh with her love of Star Wars... a far cry from the typical girl 'princess themed' party. Love it. Happy Birthday Anna! I remember visiting you in the hospital--so perfect, tiny and beautiful.
